FEDERAL, STATE, and LOCAL FAIR HOUSING
Three Keys Property Management is committed to the principles and practices of fair housing. We want to make certain that every individual who is able to qualify for a rental home has the opportunity to view it and attempt to rent it.
We do business in accordance to the Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Equal Housing Opportunity guidelines and the laws of our Federal, State, and local governments. It is illegal to discriminate against any person because of race, creed, color, sex, religion, national origin, handicap or familial status. Some cities in Washington State have additional categories. In order to comply with said laws, we do not discriminate against anyone.
Fair Housing (HUD) - 3KEYS supports and follows Fair Housing laws and guidelines; 3KEYS displays Fair Housing signage on many of its publications and its website. Here are some of the agencies and acts 3KEYS follows:
Serviceman’s Civil Relief Act (SCRA Act), which has replaced the Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Act of 1940
Uniform Residential Landlord Tenant Act (URLTA)
Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA)
Environment Protection Agency (EPA)
Any other local or state legislation that may apply to a specific city.
When you put your home on the rental market it becomes a "business" and, as such, fair housing laws are applicable. In order to prevent discrimination, fair housing laws now prohibit us—both we as your Agent and you the Owner—from actions that you might not consider to be discriminatory. We cannot ask prospective tenants if they are married, if they have children, or the ages of their children, etc.
As real estate professionals, we provide equal access for all potential tenants to all locations and types of housing that are available in this area. We will show your home to anyone who shows interest and has qualifications to rent it. We make sure that every prospective tenant knows your home is available and is made aware of its attributes. This helps protect you as a landlord since the Federal, State, and Local Fair Housing Laws apply to all of us.
